If your moving homes, renovating or simply having a clear out, skips are a great option for getting rid of all your rubbish in one go. However, before starting any project it is always a good idea to familiarise yourself with what you can and can’t put into a skip.
As a general rule, you can pretty much put anything into a skip, but there are some items which are prohibited as these can be dangerous and cause harm to people and the environment. These items can include things like Electrical items, Acid/Chemicals, Gas cylinders, Lightbulbs, Mattresses, Oil/Fuel, Plasterboard and Tyres. We also prohibit disposal of Asbestos due to its extremely hazardous nature and any medical/clinical waste.
Typically, our skips can be filled with a variety of household items and materials. However, we do recommend separating any items which can be reused and recycled such as clothing, household items, glass bottles, tins and paper/cardboard. By doing this you can avoid filling up your skip with items that can be reused and recycled in an eco-friendly way with local charities and recycling bins.
Here are some of the many things you are able to put into our skips:
- Bricks, Tiles and Ceramic
- Wood
- Bath, Toilets and Sinks
- Cardboard and paper
- Stones and Soil
- Plastics
- Furniture and Metal household items
- Glass
- Household junk
- Garden waste and non-electrical tool
- Carpet, underlay and Astro Turf
- Clothes and Textiles
We do ask you are mindful of what is being thrown away as we have the right to refuse to collect your waste should any prohibited items be disposed. If you are still unsure on what items you can put into a skip, please contact us for further advice.
